Bruno Agra — Brazilian drummer and arranger — was part of Revolution Renaissance, the band created by Finland's Timo Tolkki, formerly of Stratovarius. Besides drums he signed orchestral arrangements in the project — an uncommon combination. Drummers rarely work with orchestration, and when they do it usually signals broader musical training than is customary in metal. Revolution Renaissance existed between 2008 and 2010 and produced three records: New Era, Age of Aquarius and Trinity. It was the project with which Tolkki, after leaving Stratovarius under conflictual circumstances, sought to reassert his authorship — which placed a specific pressure on the musicians accompanying him. The presence of two Brazilians in the line-up — Agra and singer Gus Monsanto — is significant. European power metal is a relatively closed circuit, and reaching it from Brazil requires a network, relocation and prior recognition. Agra built a career in that international milieu, working in projects of diverse origins.
