Jari Behm

Jari Behm — Finnish bassist — was part of Stratovarius in the band's early phase, in the 1980s and early 1990s. That is the group's least-known stage. Before becoming one of European power metal's reference bands, Stratovarius spent nearly a decade in Helsinki playing a metal still taking shape, with records of limited circulation and no international label structure. Fright Night (1989) and the works that followed document that search. It is a path common to many Scandinavian bands of the period: years of local activity before any visibility, with unstable line-ups and production made on minimal resources. What came later — Episode (1996), Visions (1997) and worldwide recognition — was built on that earlier work. Behm belongs to that first layer. It is the part of the story that rarely appears in retrospectives, but without which there would have been no band to reach the years of success.
