Kosta Zafiriou — German drummer — is a co-founder of Pink Cream 69 and also an active figure in organising the European melodic metal circuit. Pink Cream 69 emerged in Karlsruhe in the late 1980s and is one of German hard rock's most enduring bands. Its history includes a well-known episode: in 1994 singer Andi Deris left the group to take over Helloween's vocals — one of the most important changes in German metal that decade. The band carried on with David Readman and has remained active since. Over his career Zafiriou has taken on roles beyond drumming. He has worked in management and booking for bands on the European circuit, a field in which knowledge from the inside — how a tour works, what a record costs, how you negotiate with a festival — is worth more than formal business training. It is a common kind of path in Germany, where the melodic metal structure rests on professionals who came out of the bands themselves and know how the field works from direct experience.
