Artist

Morty Black

Morty Black — Norwegian bassist — was TNT's bassist in the phase when the band achieved international standing, in the 1980s. TNT is a particular case in Scandinavian rock. Formed in Trondheim, it became known outside Norway when it began recording with American singer Tony Harnell and guitarist Ronni Le Tekrø — a combination that produced records like Knights of the New Thunder (1984) and Tell No Tales (1987), with strong reach in the United States and Japan. It is an uncommon route for a Norwegian band of that period. Years before the country became internationally known for black metal, TNT was already circulating in the American melodic hard rock market — territory then dominated by Californian bands. The bass in this repertoire must give weight without interfering with Le Tekrø's guitar, an instrumentalist of rather busy phrasing. It is supporting work, with limited room and a demand for constant precision.
