Sadus se formou na Califórnia em 1984 e é a banda de origem de Steve Di Giorgio, o baixista que introduziu o baixo fretless no metal extremo. O grupo praticava uma forma particularmente veloz e áspera de thrash, próxima do death metal que surgia no mesmo período, e é lembrado sobretudo pelo protagonismo do baixo — algo raro no gênero. Nos discos do Sadus, Di Giorgio não acompanha as guitarras: toca linhas independentes, audíveis em primeiro plano, com o timbre deslizante característico do instrumento sem trastes. Lançou Illusions (1988), Swallowed in Black (1990), A Vision of Misery (1992) e Elements of Anger (1997), entre outros, mantendo atividade intermitente nas décadas seguintes.
