Andreas Kyrt Söderin

Andreas Söderin — Swedish keyboardist — has been part of Seventh Wonder since 2000, the year the band was founded in Stockholm. The keyboard in progressive metal can serve two opposite purposes: filling space or creating space. Söderin works in the second mode. His layers give Seventh Wonder's songs harmonic depth without taking the foreground, and in the instrumental passages he takes solos that converse with Johan Liefvendahl's guitar, in the tradition established by Dream Theater and Symphony X. That discipline is what allows the band a repertoire of complex structures that is still heard as song — the case with Mercy Falls (2008), a concept album about a man in a coma, and Tiara (2018), both built with narrative and long musical arcs. With Andreas Blomqvist on bass and Liefvendahl on guitar, Söderin is part of the core that has run through all the band's records, from Become (2005) to The Testament (2022), and through every change of singer and drummer along the way.
