Andrea De Paoli

Andrew McPauls — Italian keyboard player — was part of Vision Divine's initial line-up, assembled by Olaf Thörsen in 1998. He was on the first record, Vision Divine (1999), and on Send Me an Angel (2002), the two albums made with Fabio Lione during his first spell in the band. These are the recordings on which the group defined its difference from Labÿrinth, Thörsen's other band: darker, more progressive, with the keyboard treated as a solo voice and not as background. That conception — keyboard and guitar sharing the front line, harmonising in thirds and alternating solos — was established on those first records and remained a mark of Vision Divine through every later phase, even after countless changes of line-up.
