Bjarne T. Holm — born in Denmark in 1964 — has been Mercyful Fate's drummer since the 1993 reunion, and is the member who crossed the band's whole modern phase. He joined when the group reformed after eight years of dissolution, and recorded In the Shadows (1993), Time (1994), Into the Unknown (1996), Dead Again (1998) and 9 (1999) — that is, the entire second discography of Mercyful Fate, which is longer than the classic one. His function differs from the one Kim Ruzz performed in the 1980s. The 1990s records are heavier and more direct, with modern production and steadier tempos, and Holm plays with the weight and precision that format demands, without the raw roughness of the early recordings. He is the drummer of a band that already knew exactly what it was. He also worked on projects alongside Michael Denner in the Danish scene, and remains in the line-up revived from 2019, beside King Diamond, Hank Shermann and Mike Wead.
