Chris Dovas

Chris Dovas — Testament's drummer since 2023 — is the most recent member of a band with almost forty years of history. He takes one of thrash's most demanding chairs. Testament's repertoire spans thirteen albums and several distinct rhythmic regimes: the constant speed and dry attack of the 1980s Bay Area records, the near-death-metal weight of Low (1994) and Demonic (1997), and the more elaborate structures of the recent phase, from The Formation of Damnation (2008) to Para Bellum (2025). All of it has to be performed on tour as the work of a single band, and by different drummers across four decades. His entry comes with Testament in full activity — the band stands among thrash's central names at festivals worldwide, alongside the contemporaries who survived the 1990s, and not as a catalogue act. Dovas belongs to a generation formed after thrash was already settled history, and the demand is to perform that vocabulary with the precision it was written to have.
