Fabio Buitvidas

Fabio Buitvidas — Brazilian drummer — is part of Pastore, the power metal band formed in São Paulo in 2007. The group organised around singer Mário Pastore after Delpht ended, and recorded two albums: The Price for the Human Sins (2010) and The End of Our Flames (2012). It is a case of continuity within the São Paulo scene — the same musicians, new configurations, the same stylistic repertoire. Power metal drumming is defined by high-speed double bass sustained through entire songs. That requires physical conditioning and, above all, consistency: any drift in tempo is exposed in a genre where everything is measured and the production is clean. There is no room for rhythmic improvisation or loose groove. Brazil has produced a disproportionate number of drummers able to execute that style — the result of three decades of a scene that always had more qualified musicians than market structure to absorb them.
