Fabrizio Di Sarno

Fabrizio Di Sarno — Brazilian keyboardist — was the keyboard player of Symbols's last studio phase, responsible for the album Faces (2004). Faces marks the rebuilt Symbols. The band had been founded in São Paulo in 1997 and lost its vocalist Edu Falaschi in 2001, called up by Angra. What remained of the group reorganised around guitarist Demian Tiguez, who took over the singing, and Di Sarno is part of that new line-up. The keyboard's role in Symbols was never mere background layer. The band worked in a bracket of melodic metal with a progressive streak — the same territory as Angra and Shaman, and European groups like Symphony X — in which the keyboard shares solo space with the guitar and carries part of the harmony. It is arrangement work, not accompaniment. Faces was the band's last studio record; a reunion of the classic line-up would still follow in 2012.
