Jean Carllos has been Oficina G3's keyboard player since the mid-1990s, and is a central piece in the band's transformation into a progressive metal group. His arrival coincides with the group's most important stylistic turn. The early records worked in straightforward hard rock, with no room for sonic layers; from O Tempo (2000) and Humanos (2002), Oficina G3 began building dense arrangements, with long compositions, changes of tempo and overlaid textures — and the keyboard is the instrument that makes that kind of writing possible. His function is twofold. In some passages he sustains orchestral grounds and atmospheres that widen the music's space; in others he plays melodic lines in dialogue with Juninho Afram's guitar, in the counterpoint format that progressive metal inherits from 1970s rock. He is part of the band's current line-up alongside Afram and Duca Tambasco, and is one of the few prominent keyboard players in Brazilian heavy rock.
