Mario Lepoglavec — Croatian drummer — has been part of the band Jelusick since its formation in 2023. The group is the authored project of Dino Jelusick, a singer, keyboard player and composer who also works in Whitesnake, and plays hard rock of classic structure with contemporary production. In that format the drums work with groove and dynamics rather than speed — the school of 1970s and 1980s hard rock, in which the weight comes from the exact placing of each stroke and the space between them, not from the density of notes. It is an approach harder to get right than it looks. In a song of direct structure, with a wide chorus and room for soloing, the drums have to hold the whole form without drawing attention to themselves — the opposite of extreme metal, where percussion often occupies the foreground. Lepoglavec recorded Follow the Blind Man (2023) and Apolitical Ecstasy (2025), the band's two albums so far, as part of a Croatian line-up that has begun to move in the international heavy rock circuit.
