Matteo Amoroso

Matteo Amoroso — Vision Divine's drummer during the Stream of Consciousness phase — was in the band at the moment of the greatest structural ambition in its history. Stream of Consciousness (2004) is a concept album built as continuous narrative, with tracks that run into each other and sections changing tempo and character within the same piece. For the drums, that format inverts the usual logic: instead of holding up closed songs, one has to steer transitions and mark the joins between passages that work as chapters. It was also the record made with Michele Luppi on vocals, in the interval between Fabio Lione's first two spells — a transitional line-up that nonetheless produced one of the group's most cited works.
