Savage Circus foi criada em 2004 pelo baterista Thomen Stauch, então ainda no Blind Guardian, com um propósito declarado: retomar o power metal veloz e direto que aquela banda praticava nos primeiros discos, antes de migrar para arranjos orquestrais e estruturas narrativas. Stauch deixou o Blind Guardian em 2005 justamente por discordar dessa mudança de direção, e o Savage Circus tornou-se seu projeto principal. O som é declaradamente tributário do próprio material que ele havia gravado nos anos 1980 e 1990: bumbo duplo constante, guitarras harmonizadas e refrões corais. Lançou Dreamland Manor (2005) e Of Doom and Death (2009).
