Bob Katsionis — born in Greece in 1977 — was Firewind's keyboard player and guitarist between 2004 and 2020, holding both functions at once. That combination defines his contribution. In Firewind the keyboard does not sit in the background: it shares solos with Gus G.'s guitar on equal footing, alternating phrases in passages of neoclassical vocabulary — a format demanding of the keyboard player the same technical level as the guitarist. Katsionis also added the second guitar, covering in the studio and live the layers a single-guitarist band could not reach. His sixteen years cover the whole phase of the group's greatest reach: Forged by Fire (2005), Allegiance (2006), The Premonition (2008), Days of Defiance (2010), Few Against Many (2012), Immortals (2017) and Firewind (2020). It is the period in which Firewind settled as the Greek metal band with the widest international reach. His stay was also what gave the group sonic continuity while Gus G. divided his attention with Ozzy Osbourne's band, between 2009 and 2017.
