Bruno Valverde has been Angra's drummer since 2014, when he took the place left by Ricardo Confessori. Born in Lorena, in the interior of São Paulo state, on 8 October 1990, he began playing at nine and by fifteen had won the São Paulo stage of the Odery & Modern Drummer competition. His path to the band ran through it. After work with singer Germán Pascual and the group Suprema in 2011, he was invited in 2012 to join the Kiko Loureiro Trio, the instrumental outfit of Angra's guitarist at the time. That association put him on the group's radar: when the vacancy opened in March 2014, he was already known from the inside, and he came in midway through the writing of Secret Garden, recorded in July of that year. The challenge was considerable. Succeeding Confessori meant inheriting a repertoire in which Brazilian percussion is not ornament but part of the rhythmic structure — and sustaining it live, night after night, with the precision the material demands. Valverde solved this by combining double-kick power with a command of subdivision that lets him move between metal's binary feel and Afro-Brazilian rhythmic cells without losing the pulse. He recorded Secret Garden (2014), ØMNI (2018) and Cycles of Pain (2023), and is today a settled part of Angra's line-up.
