Christian Coma — Black Veil Brides' drummer, known by the abbreviation CC — has been in the band since the phase preceding its national reach. His function in the repertoire comes from the school of 1980s hard rock and heavy metal: groove, dynamics and the exact placing of strokes rather than constant speed. It is the approach Black Veil Brides' format demands — songs of direct structure, with a wide chorus and room for soloing, in which the drums hold the whole form without competing for the foreground. That choice is consistent with the band's project. Black Veil Brides reintroduced into American heavy rock of the 2010s a vocabulary — visual and musical — the scene had abandoned, and the drums follow the same logic: power and stage presence rather than technical density. Coma recorded the group's entire mature discography, including Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones (2013), the band's most ambitious concept album, and is one of the elements of continuity in a line-up that went through several changes at the bass position.
