Black Veil Brides

Black Veil Brides formed in 2006 in Cincinnati, Ohio, founded by vocalist Andy Biersack (then known as Andy Six). After moving to Hollywood and settling the lineup around 2010, the band built a loyal following through its theatrical, androgynous aesthetic — black-and-white face paint drawing on corpse paint, studded leather and long hair, with clear references to Kiss and Mötley Crüe. The debut album We Stitch These Wounds (2010) established a melodic metalcore built on twin guitar riffs and an alternation between screamed and sung vocals. With Set the World on Fire (2011) and the records that followed, the band moved decisively toward hard rock, heavy metal and glam metal, incorporating symphonic textures through multi-instrumentalist Jinxx. Albums such as Wretched and Divine (2013) and the self-titled Black Veil Brides (2014) invested in conceptual narratives and arena-rock production, while Vale (2018) and The Phantom Tomorrow (2021) headed toward a more polished, synthesizer-laden rock. Despite lineup changes — most notably bassist Ashley Purdy's departure in 2019 — the band remained a reference point in the post-emo/metalcore scene of the 2010s, holding on to a large fan base. Now signed to Spinefarm Records, they continue releasing music and touring internationally.
