Gee Anzalone — born in Italy in 1985 — has been DragonForce's drummer since 2014, and is already the longest-serving in the band's history in that position. He took on the most physically demanding chair in power metal: DragonForce's repertoire is played above 200 beats per minute, with continuous double kick in tracks running past seven minutes, and has to be sustained across a whole show, on heavily scheduled world tours. He recorded Reaching into Infinity (2017), Extreme Power Metal (2019) and Warp Speed Warriors (2024), and is part of the current line-up. His stay of more than ten years gave the band a rhythmic stability it lacked in the two preceding decades, when it changed drummers several times. He comes from Italy, a country whose tradition in melodic power metal — Rhapsody, Labÿrinth, Vision Divine — produced a generation of players trained in that vocabulary of speed and precision, and Anzalone is one of those who crossed into the international circuit.
