DragonForce is a British power metal band formed in London in 1999. Founded by guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman, the band built its identity around extreme instrumental velocity, fusing power metal with thrash and neo-classical shred guitar. Original vocalist ZP Theart fronted the band through Valley of the Damned (2003) through Ultra Beatdown (2008), the era that saw global fame via "Through the Fire and Flames," which became a phenomenon after appearing in Guitar Hero III. In 2010, ZP Theart departed; Marc Hudson joined in 2011, fronting the band through The Power Within (2012) to Warp Speed Warriors (2024). Today DragonForce remains one of the most recognizable acts in modern power metal, celebrated for technical virtuosity and its crossover appeal with gaming culture.
