Giacomo Voli — born in Italy in 1985 — has been Rhapsody of Fire's singer since 2016, having taken on one of the hardest positions in European power metal. Replacing Fabio Lione meant inheriting twenty years of repertoire built on a very particular voice: an operatic register, wide range and the playing of characters within continuous narratives. All the band's classic material, including the Emerald Sword Saga, was written for that instrument. Voli arrived by a path unusual for the genre: he gained visibility on a televised musical competition in Italy, a format far from the underground circuit metal singers usually come from. His training, however, suits the repertoire — he sings with clean projection and long sustain, and covers both the old and the new material without imitating his predecessor. He recorded Into the Legend (2016), The Eighth Mountain (2019), Glory for Salvation (2021) and Challenge the Wind (2024), the output with which Alex Staropoli rebuilt the band after the 2011 split.
