Ivan Busic — Brazilian drummer — is a co-founder of Dr. Sin, the band that set the technical standard for hard rock and instrumental metal in Brazil. Dr. Sin was born in São Paulo in 1991, assembled by Ivan and his brother Andria Busic — sons of a Croatian father and a Brazilian mother, raised in a household of musicians. The band established itself as a reference for a specific reason: while Brazilian metal in the 1990s was largely amateur in execution, Dr. Sin played with the precision of studio musicians, and that was audible from the debut record, Dr. Sin (1993). His drumming belongs to the American hard rock school — groove, dynamics and exact placing of the strokes rather than constant speed — an approach suited to the band's format: songs of direct structure with room for Eduardo Ardanuy's solos. The Busic brothers sustained the group for more than thirty years, crossing the classic phase from 1991 to 2016 and the return in 2018. Ivan has also worked as a studio musician and been part of other projects of the São Paulo circuit, but it is through Dr. Sin that he became an unavoidable name in Brazilian heavy rock.
