Jørn Lande built his reputation across some of the best bands in European melodic metal before establishing his own name. After stints with Vagabond, The Snakes, Millenium, Ark and Beyond Twilight, the Norwegian vocalist found worldwide recognition in Masterplan. On Masterplan and Aeronautics, his rough, deep, bluesy voice gave human weight to the compositions of Roland Grapow and Uli Kusch, distancing the band from overly polished power metal. At the same time, he developed an extensive career with the Jorn project, starting with Starfire, in 2000, and marked by a modern reinterpretation of classic hard rock. He also shared albums with Russell Allen in the Allen/Lande project and became Avantasia's most recurring guest, occupying a central position on songs such as “The Scarecrow”, “Another Angel Down”, “Lucifer” and “The Raven Child”. His performance combines the authority of Ronnie James Dio, the harshness of David Coverdale and instantly recognizable phrasing, although he never hides these influences. Lande also gave voice to Karthus in the Pentakill project, linked to League of Legends, expanding his presence beyond the traditional metal circuit. His extensive and fragmented career may have prevented a single band from concentrating their full potential, but it has also made him one of the most sought-after voices in the genre. Jørn didn't need to reinvent hard rock. He became one of its last great interpreters, capable of making a song sound old, heavy and alive at the same time.
