Marcus Dotta — Brazilian drummer — has been Metalium's drummer since the band's 2023 revival. Metalium is a particular case in German metal. Founded in 1998 by bassist Lars Ratz, it produced eight albums numbered as chapters — from Millennium Metal — Chapter One (1999) to Grounded — Chapter Eight (2009) — forming a continuous body of power metal with a strong narrative component. The band stopped for over a decade before returning to activity. The revival line-up is international, with Brazilian and Portuguese musicians alongside the Germans — an arrangement reflecting how European metal works today, with national scenes far more permeable than in the 1990s. For the drums, Metalium's repertoire demands the vocabulary of classic power metal: constant speed, double bass and metrical precision across long songs. It is a style in which any wobble in tempo is exposed, which is why few drummers execute it well on tour.
