Mattias Olofsson

Mattias Olofsson — Swedish vocalist — took over Seventh Wonder's vocals in 2026, joining the band's current line-up. The position he inherited is among the hardest in progressive metal. Tommy Karevik, his predecessor, is regarded as one of the genre's finest singers — a voice of wide range, rare technical control and the capacity to carry the long narratives Seventh Wonder specialised in, from Mercy Falls (2008) to The Testament (2022). Karevik had been combining the band with fronting Kamelot since 2012. Seventh Wonder, founded in Stockholm in 2000, built its repertoire around the voice: the structures are complex, but what organises each song is the sung melodic line. Replacing that element means replacing the axis. The band's instrumental core — Andreas Blomqvist on bass, Johan Liefvendahl on guitar and Andreas Söderin on keyboards — has stood intact since the founding, which gives the new phase a solid base. Olofsson opens the latest chapter of one of the most respected bands in Scandinavian progressive metal.
