Michele Luppi — born in Italy in 1974 — is a singer and multi-instrumentalist, Vision Divine's vocalist between 2003 and 2005. He took the microphone during the interval in which Fabio Lione stepped away from the band, and sang precisely on the group's two most structurally ambitious records: Stream of Consciousness (2004), a concept album built as continuous narrative, and The Perfect Machine (2005). Succeeding Lione — one of the most recognisable voices in Italian metal — on material of that complexity was a thankless task, and Luppi solved it with a timbre of his own rather than imitation. His career afterwards confirms the range: since 2015 he has been part of Whitesnake as keyboard player and backing vocalist, holding a position in a hard rock band of worldwide reach. It is an unusual path for an Italian metal singer, and shows the versatility — voice, keyboard, reading someone else's repertoire — rarely demanded of a front-line vocalist.
