Ramy Ali

Ramy Ali — German drummer born in 1983 — was Freedom Call's drummer between 2013 and 2018 and returned to the group in 2023. Freedom Call is a case of longevity in German power metal: founded in 1998 by Chris Bay, it has kept the same recognisable formula for over two decades — choral refrains, major harmonies and a deliberately luminous tone the band itself christened "happy metal". That consistency carries a practical demand. The band's repertoire depends on constant speed and clean execution: double bass sustained through entire songs without tempo drift, in a kind of production where any imprecision is exposed. It is work of physical endurance and metrical precision. Ali is on the records Beyond (2014), Master of Light (2016) and M.E.T.A.L. (2019), besides having returned for the current line-up. Two spells in the same band, five years apart, indicate a working relationship that functioned on both sides.
