Rob Rock

Rob Rock — American vocalist — is one of the reference voices of US melodic heavy metal, known above all for his work with guitarist Chris Impellitteri. His path crosses a difficult era for the genre. Rock built his career in the 1980s and 1990s, a period when American melodic metal lost ground to grunge and alternative metal, and survived precisely where a market still existed: Europe and Japan. It is a route common to several American singers of that generation, whose audience base ended up outside their own country. His voice has high range and sustained power, in the line running from Rob Halford to Geoff Tate — the standard European power metal would adopt as a norm. He has also recorded solo material and taken part in projects on the international circuit, including work of Christian subject matter, about which he is open. He is the kind of singer whose reputation circulates more among musicians and specialist listeners than in the broad market — settled technical recognition, without the visibility the same competence would have earned ten years earlier.
