Ryan Seaman — American drummer — was part of Falling in Reverse from the initial line-up, assembled by Ronnie Radke in 2011. His function in the repertoire is among the most demanding in the circuit. Falling in Reverse combines metalcore, rap, electronic pop and ballad within the same tracks, with changes of register occurring without preparation — a breakdown section can give way to a pop chorus and a rap passage in less than a minute. Each of those passages calls for a different rhythmic treatment, and it is the drums that mark the transitions. If they are not articulated with precision, the song sounds like a collage of disconnected parts. That is the central problem of this format, and the reason few bands manage to perform it without falling apart. Seaman recorded The Drug in Me Is You (2011) and the following records of the phase in which Falling in Reverse established itself on the American charts, and is one of the elements of continuity in a band whose line-up changed repeatedly over the decade.
