Aina

Aina was a German progressive/symphonic power metal project, active between 2003 and 2004, conceived and produced by Sascha Paeth. It grew out of the partnership between singer and lyricist Amanda Somerville — author of the concept and of all the lyrics — and multi-instrumentalist Robert Hunecke-Rizzo, responsible for the music, with Michael "Miro" Rodenberg on keyboards and arrangements. It produced a single album, the metal opera Days of Rising Doom (2003, Transmission/The End Records), with an extensive cast of guest vocalists playing characters in an original story created by Somerville, among them Glenn Hughes, Michael Kiske, André Matos, Candice Night, Sass Jordan, Tobias Sammet, Marko Hietala and Damian Wilson, plus instrumental solos by Derek Sherinian, Jens Johansson, Emppu Vuorinen, Thomas Youngblood and Erik Norlander. Ten years later, Paeth confirmed there were no plans to revive the project.
