Progressive Metal · since 2000

Circus Maximus is a Norwegian progressive metal band formed in Oslo in 2000, built around longtime friends: vocalist Michael Eriksen, guitarist Mats Haugen, and drummer Truls Haugen, joined by bassist Glen Cato Møllen and keyboardist Espen Storø. After early success as a technically demanding cover act, the band released its debut, The 1st Chapter (2005), drawing comparisons to Dream Theater and Symphony X. Isolate followed in 2007, then Nine (2012) and Havoc (2016). Michael Eriksen has remained the band's sole vocalist since 2000, an unusual stability in the genre, with the rest of the classic lineup intact since 2006. The band remains active into the mid-2020s, regarded as one of Norway's foremost progressive metal exports.
