Eduardo Martinez

Eduardo Martinez — Brazilian guitarist — was part of Hangar for much of its history, crossing several of the band's line-ups. That continuity carries particular weight in a group whose instability is well known: Hangar went through six different singers, hiatuses and resumptions in almost three decades. Having continuity on guitar means being the memory of the repertoire — the one who carries from one line-up to the next the way the tracks are meant to sound. His function is what melodic power metal demands: riffs at fast tempo, harmonies in thirds with the second guitar, and solos built on the harmonic progression rather than on memorised scales. It is a format of precision, depending on exact understanding with the drums — in Hangar's case, with Aquiles Priester, one of the most technical drummers in Brazilian metal. He took part in the records of the band's mature phase, the period in which Hangar had already settled as an autonomous group in the national circuit and no longer as a side project.
