Fábio Laguna

Fábio Laguna — Brazilian keyboard player — joined Hangar at the start of the 2000s, and is one of the most sought-after names in the country's melodic metal. His path ties him to the core of Brazilian power metal: besides Hangar, he worked with Angra and with projects connected to Andre Matos, moving within the same set of musicians who put Brazil on the genre's international map in the 1990s and 2000s. His function in Hangar is what melodic power metal demands of the keyboard: sustaining the harmonic layers beneath riffs at fast tempo, doubling guitar lines in harmony passages, and taking solos alternating with the guitarist. It is an inheritance from neoclassical metal, a format in which keyboard and guitar share the front line rather than being ranked one above the other. He took part in the records of the band's consolidation phase, the period in which Hangar stopped being drummer Aquiles Priester's side project and settled as an autonomous group in the Brazilian circuit.
