Kevin Skaff — American guitarist — has been part of A Day to Remember since 2009, joining precisely when the band reached the American mainstream. His arrival coincides with Homesick (2009), the record that consolidated the group's formula — pop punk and metalcore within the same song — and took it to an audience far beyond its circuit of origin. He has since recorded What Separates Me from You (2010), Common Courtesy (2013), Bad Vibrations (2016) and You're Welcome (2021). His function is double: besides guitar, he performs the guttural vocals that give the heavy sections their contrast with Jeremy McKinnon's clean singing. That division is what lets A Day to Remember carry out the alternation between the two genres without depending on a single vocalist switching register all the time. Skaff also crossed the tensest period of the band's history: the legal dispute with its label, resolved when the group released Common Courtesy on its own in the middle of the litigation — a risky decision that became a reference for other artists in conflict over contracts.
