Lauren Hart — Arch Enemy's vocalist since 2026 — holds a position the band itself helped create. Since 2000, Arch Enemy has been sung by women in a guttural register: first Angela Gossow, then Alissa White-Gluz. Before that, this kind of female voice practically did not exist in melodic death metal — the genre associated women with the lyric soprano. Her two predecessors dismantled that assumption, and Hart is the third to take a chair that is today a reference in the genre because of them. Her own path comes from Once Human, the American extreme metal band founded by Logan Mader, formerly of Machine Head — a repertoire in which she already worked with growls and screams at recording and touring level. The charge is double: beyond the new material, she has to sustain on tour a catalogue of thirteen albums written for three different voices across thirty years, from Black Earth (1996) to Blood Dynasty (2025).
