Mike Moon

Mike Moon was King Diamond's guitarist in the line-up that recorded Abigail (1987), the band's best-known album and one of the first fully conceptual records in heavy metal. He played alongside Andy LaRocque in the two-guitar configuration that carries the album — harmonised arrangements, layers of accompaniment beneath the solos, and the alternation between dense passages and almost silent stretches that the work's narrative required. His time in the group was brief and his later path is thinly documented, a common situation among musicians from the early line-ups of bands that only gained prominence afterwards. He remains, even so, credited on one of the genre's most influential records.
