Tommy Karevik

Tommy Karevik gained prominence in Seventh Wonder, a Swedish band he joined in 2005. On albums such as Waiting in the Wings, Mercy Falls, The Great Escape and Tiara, he developed an interpretation that combines technical precision, a strong melodic sense and an emotional delivery unusual in progressive metal. His departure, announced in 2023, ended a partnership of almost two decades and one of the most important phases in the group's history. In 2012, Karevik took over Kamelot's vocals, replacing Roy Khan under inevitable and not very useful comparisons. Their Silverthorn debut preserved the band's dramatic atmosphere but introduced a more expansive, contemporary voice. Haven, The Shadow Theory and The Awakening consolidated their presence, supported by theatrical interpretations, wide-ranging clean vocals and an increasingly dominant stage presence. Outside of these bands, he participated in Ayreon albums, playing characters in The Theory of Everything, The Source and Transitus, in addition to being part of the Avantasia cast in Here Be Dragons. Karevik became one of the main vocalists of modern melodic metal not by reproducing the greats that came before him, but by balancing technique, clarity and interpretation without turning each song into a high pitch competition.
