Alessandro Sala

Alessandro Sala — born in Italy in 1982 — has been Rhapsody of Fire's bassist since 2015, part of the line-up with which Alex Staropoli rebuilt the band. His function is defined by the density of the repertoire. Rhapsody's records combine orchestra, choir, symphonic keyboards, two guitars and drums at high speed — the sonic spectrum is practically occupied before the bass comes in. It falls to him to hold the harmonic foundation beneath that mass without competing for space, keeping an audible reference in tracks that pass through several changes of tempo and orchestral sections. Live, the demand is another: to reproduce clearly a body of material conceived in the studio with overlaid layers, in a band format that does not have the orchestra present. He took part in Into the Legend (2016), The Eighth Mountain (2019), Glory for Salvation (2021) and Challenge the Wind (2024), crossing the group's whole modern phase alongside Staropoli, Giacomo Voli and Roby De Micheli.
