Pär Sundström — born in Sweden in 1981 — is Sabaton's bassist, co-founder and chief manager, and one of the reasons the band became one of the biggest names in European metal. His contribution goes well beyond the instrument. Sundström handles the group's administration — contracts, tour production, career planning — on a scale unusual for musicians, who generally delegate that function. Sabaton operates as a structured company, with its own festival in Sweden, a themed cruise and large-scale audiovisual production, and that organisation is his work. That management explains part of the band's reach. Sabaton builds shows with a tank onstage and elaborate staging, and sustains a digital presence that widens the audience far beyond the genre's traditional circuit. As a bassist, his function is support in a repertoire built on direct riffs and broad choruses — Sabaton does not seek instrumental complexity but clarity and impact. He is, with Joakim Brodén, the only member present since the band's founding in 1999.
