Aléxis Gallucci

Brazil

Aléxis Gallucci — Brazilian bassist — is part of Pastore, the São Paulo power metal band formed in 2007. Pastore was born of a scene's continuity. After Delpht wound down, singer Mário Pastore gathered musicians for a new project, which recorded The Price for the Human Sins (2010) and The End of Our Flames (2012). It is the kind of path that repeats in Brazilian metal: bands end, the musicians stay, and new groups form out of the same networks. Bass in power metal has a function of pure support — following double bass drum at constant speed, giving the guitars low-end body and holding the harmonic structure while everything else moves. It is not a prominent position, but it directly determines whether a band sounds solid or loose. Over three decades Brazil developed a power metal scene with a solid technical base and a loyal audience, despite having almost no industry structure. Bands like Pastore are what keeps that fabric working.
