Bruno Ladislau

Bruno Ladislau — Brazilian bassist — was the bassist of Andre Matos's solo band between 2010 and 2019, accompanying the singer until his death. Matos's solo career is the third phase of a path that ran through Viper and Angra — two bands that defined Brazilian metal. After leaving Angra in 2000 and Shaman in 2006, Matos put together a band under his own name and produced three records: Time to Be Free (2007), Mentalize (2009) and The Turn of the Lights (2012). It is a demanding repertoire. Matos's material combines power metal, progressive and arrangements of classical influence, with long structures and frequent changes — the bass must follow all of that while holding the foundation beneath layers of keyboard and guitar. Matos died in 2019, aged 47, and the band accompanying him in that period was the last line-up he worked with. Ladislau is part of the final record of one of the most important voices in the history of Brazilian metal.
