Bruno Nunes — Portuguese guitarist — has been part of Metalium since the band's revival in 2023. Metalium is a weighty name in German power metal: eight records between 1999 and 2009, numbered as chapters of a continuous narrative, assembled by bassist and composer Lars Ratz. Reviving a band with that history after more than a decade of inactivity means taking on an already established repertoire that the audience knows note for note. The current line-up is international — Portuguese and Brazilian musicians alongside the Germans — which reflects a concrete change in the European scene. Metal is no longer organised by national borders as it was in the 1990s; today bands are assembled out of networks of musicians spread across several countries. For the guitarist the challenge is to perform the classic material faithfully — in power metal, solos are melodic themes the audience expects to hear exactly as they were recorded.
