Curtis Ward

Curtis Ward — British guitarist — is a co-founder of Bring Me the Horizon and was part of the band in its early phase, the deathcore period. He was in the line-up that recorded Count Your Blessings (2006), the first album: exclusively guttural vocals, riffs of extreme weight, no melodic concession. It is the record of a group of Sheffield teenagers playing the most aggressive genre available at the time, and nothing in it suggests the band that would play stadiums with synthesizers and clean singing fifteen years later. That phase is today the least representative of Bring Me the Horizon — the group itself spent years avoiding the material — but it is the base on which everything else was built. The band only had room to transform radically because it started from an extreme point. Ward left the group in 2009, before the transition that would begin with There Is a Hell... (2010). His spell covers exactly the Bring Me the Horizon that would cease to exist.
