Demian Tiguez

Demian Tiguez — Brazilian guitarist and vocalist — is the only musician present throughout Symbols's entire existence, spanning the band's three line-ups and three records. Symbols began in São Paulo in 1997 as a melodic metal group with a strong progressive streak, and its first vocalist was Edu Falaschi. When Falaschi left in 2001 to take over Angra's vocals, the band faced the classic problem of losing the voice that identified it — and Tiguez, already the house guitarist, took on the singing as well. That is how Faces (2004) came about, the third and last studio record, made with a renewed line-up and with Tiguez singing. A record by a rebuilt band, not a declining one. In 2012 he took part in the classic line-up's reunion. His path is that of the musician who does not let the band die when the spotlight changes address — a less visible function than being Angra's vocalist, and just as necessary.
