Donny Burbage — Cradle of Filth's guitarist since 2022 — is part of the line-up with which the band recorded The Screaming of the Valkyries (2025). He joined a group that had already accumulated more than thirty years and fourteen records, and whose guitar role defines much of the sound: Cradle of Filth's riffs have a clear melodic line inherited from traditional heavy metal, and are what allows the repertoire to carry orchestrations and choirs without dissolving into noise. It is a post of double demand. Beyond the new material, the guitarist has to perform on tour a catalogue written across three decades by different musicians — from The Principle of Evil Made Flesh (1994) to today — treating it as a single body. Burbage is American, unusual in a British band whose line-ups have come mostly from England and eastern Europe.
