Cradle of Filth are an English extreme metal band formed in Suffolk in 1991 by vocalist Dani Filth. After early demos, the band signed to Cacophonous Records and released The Principle of Evil Made Flesh (1994). Their sound evolved into a polished, symphonic, gothic style on Dusk... and Her Embrace (1996) and Cruelty and the Beast (1998), both genre landmarks. Dani Filth remains the sole continuous member. The band achieved mainstream crossover with Midian (2000) and Damnation and a Day (2003), followed by Nymphetamine (2004). Subsequent releases through The Screaming of the Valkyries (2025) cemented their status as one of extreme metal's most prolific and influential bands, still active and touring internationally today.
