Duca Tambasco — born in Brazil in 1976 — has been Oficina G3's bassist since 1994, and is the band's second longest-serving member, behind only Juninho Afram. He joined early in the group's path, before the 1998 Acústico that considerably widened its reach, and stayed through the whole phase in which Oficina G3 moved from straightforward hard rock to progressive metal. That transition defines his function. On the early records the bass followed conventional song structures; from O Tempo (2000) and Humanos (2002) the repertoire came to include long compositions, changes of metre and arrangements with layered guitar and keyboard. In that format the bass has to hold the harmonic reference while the other instruments move — and to do so clearly enough that the listener does not lose the ground. He is part of the current line-up alongside Afram and Jean Carllos, and also works as a studio musician and in side projects in the Brazilian scene.
