Fredrik Larsson — born in Sweden in 1974 — is HammerFall's bassist across two periods: from 1994 to 1997 and again since 2007. His first spell covers the band's founding and the recording of Glory to the Brave (1997), the album that returned traditional heavy metal to the European circuit at a moment when the genre was given up for finished. He left soon afterwards, and the band carried on with Magnus Rosén in the role for a decade. His return in 2007 marked a change of approach. Rosén played with virtuosity, a high register and independent lines — a stance closer to progressive rock than to the band's format. Larsson plays in a conventional, anchored manner, holding the harmonic ground beneath Oscar Dronjak's riffs without competing for space. For a repertoire built on broad choruses and direct structure, that is the appropriate function. He is on all the group's recent output, from No Sacrifice, No Victory (2009) to Avenge the Fallen (2024), forming with drummer David Wallin the rhythm section of the current line-up.
