Henning Basse

Henning Basse — born in Germany in 1976 — was Firewind's vocalist between 2015 and 2020, and returned to the band in 2025. His career ties him to two scenes at once. He became known in Metalium, the German power metal band, and worked with Sons of Seasons and MaYaN, the project of Dutchman Mark Jansen — a path combining classic German power metal with heavier and more progressive formats. In Firewind he recorded Immortals (2017) and Firewind (2020), the records marking the band's return to full activity after Gus G. ended his period with Ozzy Osbourne. Immortals is a concept album about the Battle of Thermopylae — material demanding of the singer an epic register and projection, not merely range. His return in 2025 is a rare case in a band that had five singers in two decades: instead of seeking a new name, Firewind called back someone who already knew the repertoire and the audience, solving at a stroke the problem of reintroducing the whole catalogue under another voice.
